About me
Jae K. Gee is a Chinese-American theatre artist based in the D.C. area with a deep passion for directing, stage managing and performance. She graduated from American University, in Washington D.C., in Spring of 2024 with a degree in Theater Arts and Political Science. Her background in politics, as well as their lived experiences, give Jae a unique perspective on how to tell effective and thought provoking stories that are deeply relevant to current events.
She is particularly passionate about exploring what classical works can teach us about the problems that have continued in human culture for hundreds of years. For example, her adaptation of "ANTIGONE" which explored young people's reactions to a broken political systems and her upcoming production of "Coriolanus" which will interrogate the flaws of how we choose leaders in our democracy.
Jae cares deeply about centering the voices of marginalized communities that have typically been excluded from mainstream storytelling, including (but not limited to) queer and asian experiences. She is also a trained actor-combatant and fight choreographer, holding multiple certifications with the Society of American Fight Directors. The staging of theatrical violence safely is one of Jae's many artistic interests.
